The international recognition of Selena Gomez as an actress and a singing sensation is undeniable. Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, one of the biggest projects that she has been a part of and which has had the highest popularity, is her work. The full title of her name is Selena Marie Gomez. She was born July 22 the 22nd of July, 1993 in Grand Prairie Texas. Amanda Cornett, and Ricardo Gomez are her parents. Her mother Amanda Cornett, who was 16 at the time Selena was conceived. When she was 9 she got her first job as a showgirl when she got the role as Gianna on Barney and her Friends. This meant she was among numerous children who played with Barney, the famous anthropomorphic pink dinosaur. Selena participated in a number of episodes from episodes 7 and 8 between 2001 and2003. Fun fact: Selena was not the only performer to have appeared in Barney and his Friends during this period; Demi Lovato was also part of the team that starred in the show. Selena Gomez, after she quit the show, auditioned unsuccessfully for several films and other television shows. Her role was only a tiny one in the 2003 film Mini Spies 3 (Spy Kids 3-D Game Over) as well as another role similar to Julie as Julie in Walker Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire. She was also cast as Emily Grace Garcia, a person she wrote as a musical in 2006's Brain Zapped.
